A TRADITIONAL sport which dates back over 200 years and is administered in Goole is set to begin next month.
Harness racing, which involves a horse and driver racing on a track, either trotting or pacing but not galloping, gets under way at York on May 5.
The sport dates back to the 1770s in Britain and official records were kept in America from 1806, but it is widely popular in Australia, America and Europe and is globally the world's biggest form of horse racing.
The head office that administrates harness racing throughout the UK has been based on Burlington Crescent since 1994.
