WASHINGTON -- The FDA reported that as of Sept. 30, drug and biological manufacturers have failed to start more than 1,000 post-marketing safety and efficacy studies the firms committed to conduct as part of approval decisions for their products.
About 71 percent of post-approval, or Phase IV, commitment studies for pharmaceuticals and 33 percent for biologics have not been initiated, the FDA said in an April 24 Federal Register notice.
In addition, manufacturers of pharmaceutical products missed the deadline for submitting 37 percent of their annual reports about the status of Phase IV commitments, while ...
