Redefining sexual abuse liability.(news analysis)

The expanding definition of sexual abuse in the courts and the increasing risk for employers that follows is alerting employers to the need for risk management strategies. Risk of sexual abuse cases is particularly strong among health care providers, school districts, day care centers, youth organizations, and religious groups. Many organizations have purchased general liability insurance policies to protect themselves. Many also are checking the backgrounds of potential employees for previous sexual abuse cases, since offenders tend to repeat their behaviors.
