Taiwanese firm to locate $ 5-M plant here to manufacture LCDs.(Business News)

A Taiwanese electronics firm has chosen the Philippines as the site of its $ 5-million overseas plant that will manufacture Thin Film Transmission (TFT) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) for televisions, computer monitors and cars.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Peter Favila said Great Sun Optoelectronics of Taiwan will hire five hundred to eight hundred workers in its facility in Clark Field Special Economic and Free Port in its first year of operations.

He added that Great Sun will be negotiating with at least three suppliers to complement its operations in the Clark Economic Zone in Pampanga.
