The peso exchange rate closed at P42.04 to the US dollar last Friday at the Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp., (PDEx). The weighted average rate stands at P42.058.

BSP may hold rates in 2008

Standard Chartered Bank, in a commentary, expect the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to keep policy rates unchanged for the rest of this year. "However, our view remains that the US downturn will be drawn out over a period that extends beyond the current supply-driven inflation cycle," bank economists based in Hong Kong said.
