Of the 2092/3 innings Mariners pitchers have logged through 24 games, Erik Bedard has pitched just 11, hardly getting the opportunity to display his No. 1 starter potential in the first month of the season.
Hopefully for the Mariners that will change Saturday, when the left-hander returns from the disabled list to face the Oakland A's in just his third outing of the season. Bedard hasn't pitched since April 8 at Tampa Bay, when he won his first decision as a Mariner with six innings of three-run ball against the Rays.
A few days later, Bedard began experiencing pain in his left hip and was placed on the DL a week later ...
