For a lot of enterprising high school and college coaches, sports camps offer a promising way to promote their school and bank some money.

But it is not a give-away. If not approached as a business, it will achieve neither goal. Sports camping requires a business plan--a written document that outlines the who, where, how, and why of the camp. While most coaches are familiar with the way that camps operate, via their experience as campers, counselors, and coaches, it is just as important to understand that it is a business.
