FRUSTRATED shoppers will pack their goods into black bin bags at supermarket checkouts if the Government tries to slap a charge on the use of plastic bags, a South Yorkshire MP has warned.
Eric Illsley, MP for Barnsley Central, used a Commons debate to urge Gordon Brown not to "demonise" single-use plastic bags.
The Prime Minister has warned retailers he will force them to cut down on plastic bag use if they do not act voluntarily.

Mr Brown signalled in February he will use the law to stop supermarkets giving away free plastic bags within the next 12 months.
