ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Brendan Donnelly has made a habit of ending up in places he never imagined himself.
Last night it was Tropicana Field, dressed in a T-shirt and jeans, hugging and talking to members of his former team, the Red Sox, while the Tampa Bays Rays took batting practice.
"It was kind of weird because I just came to see (Rays reliever Troy) Percival. I'm not sure how I ended up on the field," Donnelly said. "The next thing I know is I'm in the middle of Boston's stretch."
Four months before, Donnelly made a much more stressful unexpected appearance.
