Color monitors tantalized home PC users for years with hundreds of vibrant hues that flashed on-screen. But printing the same pigments on paper was prohibitively expensive. Now, with affordable color inkjet printers--which often cost less than $500--the world of computing isn't nearly as gray. Color inkjets are shoving black-and-white dot-matrix printers off many home desktops and are one of the hottest-selling computer peripherals.
