According to a report by the National Development and Reform Commission, China produced 120 800 tons of rare earth mineral products in 2007, a drop of 8. 83% from the previous year. The output of rare earth smelting and separation products was 126 000 tons (including nearly 18 000 tons of reclaimed scraps), a drop of 19.75%. The rare earth sector accomplished an industrial total production value of RMB28.764 billion and a sales revenue of RMB28.171 billion, an increase of 50.79% and 52.07% respectively.
