After screeching into the parking lot at swimming lessons, I jumped from my vehicle just in time to hear two women greet each other. Judging from the answer, one must have inquired about how the other was doing.

"I'm fine," her friend replied as the two hurried by, "except that no matter where I am, I'm supposed to be somewhere else."

Amen to that, I thought as I dragged my laptop over to the picnic table so I could work while my kids were learning how to do the butterfly stroke, acutely conscious of the fact that I was supposed to be grocery shopping. Running perpetually behind was starting to get old.
