With regard to the article on developmental delay issues by Dr. William G. Wilkoff ("Biding One's Tongue," Letters From Maine, January 2008, p. 26), I think it's safe to say I am one of those pediatricians who equate early intervention with motherhood and apple pie.
The case in this article involves a child with a normal developmental trajectory. However, I am concerned that "once or twice a year" Dr. Wilkoff will observe a child where "things haven't moved on as well as [he] had hoped.'"
