Given all the turmoil on Wall Street and the subprime mortgage smackdown on the banks, it might just have been a matter of time before retailers started to feel the pinch in their own finances as the money folks tighten up. Talbots Inc., which said Bank of America and HSBC would pull lines of credit, is perhaps only the first to be squeezed. "We were surprised, but there is a lot going on with banks that we are not privy to," said CEO Trudy Sullivan.
