VF PROFITS RISE DESPITE NAUTICA ISSUES.(Financial report)

ATLANTA - Nautica is going back to its men's wear roots.

Last week, Nautica's parent, VF Corp., said it would drop women's wear and focus entirely on men's. Nautica dragged down the total performance of VF's Sportswear coalition, where revenues actually fell 11 percent in the quarter despite higher revenues in the Kipling and John Varvatos businesses. VF said it expected Nautica revenues to drop, primarily because a customer reduced its assortment of Nautica products last year. The company decided to drop its women's wholesale business and focus its resources on building the Nautica core men's sportswear, licensed and direct-to-consumer businesses. ...
