THE SAGA involving Rugby Athletic Club's throwing cage took another twist last week after it failed a safety inspection.
The cage was installed at the club earlier this month after an 18 month wait during which hammer and discuss throwers from the club travelled to Nuneaton, Birmingham and Corby to train.
But when a UK Athletics Inspector visited the track last week he deemed that the cage and a long jump pit were unfit for use and has banned the from club training on them.
Originally, the inspector wanted to close the entire track, but club officials persuaded him that was an 'over-reaction'.
