ARCHIVES hidden away in a studio has uncovered a link between an arts centre and a long-running society.
Spring cleaning in the upper studio area of Stamford Arts' Centre uncovered two boxes of forgotten minutes and letters from the Welland Valley Art Society.
This material revealed that the idea to create a cultural centre for Stamford was proposed by the committee and news that the town's Assembly Rooms had been offered was announced during a committee meeting.
Society secretary Alan Lyme, 75, of All Saints' Street, Stamford, said of this treasure trove: "It was an unexpected find, it had been in a cupboard for many years.
