CHICAGO -- Fitch Ratings has affirmed the Issuer Default Rating (IDR) and Insurer Financial Strength (IFS) ratings of Health Net, Inc. (Health Net) and its insurance operating subsidiaries (detailed rating list appears below). Fitch has also revised Health Net's Rating Outlook to Negative from Stable.
Today's rating action follows Health Net's earnings release yesterday in which management disclosed a $51 million pre-tax loss in the first quarter (1Q) and a significant reduction in earnings expectations for the year.
