Two-hundred and forty-four menopausal women aged 40-60 were randomized in this double-blind, controlled, three-month study and were assigned to either a 40 mg isopropanolic extract of black cohosh per day (Remifemin) or 2.5 mg tibolone per day, a drug known to reduce hot flashes. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy-safety balance of the extract of black cohosh in comparison with tibolone in Chinese women with menopausal symptoms.
Results: There was a significant trend, reported as 57.8%, showing that women given Remifemin respond better than if they were assigned to tibolone in terms of efficacy-risk balance. It also showed that ...
