The First World War medals of a Friockheim man who was killed in action just weeks into the conflict were sold at an auction held by Spink, at Bloomsbury, London, on Thursday.
Private Robert Mitchell, 1st Battalion, The Black Watch, was the son of James Mitchell and his wife, Margaret, nee Stephen, of Castle Street, Friockheim.
He was 25 years of age and was unmarried.
