THE number of registered sex offenders in West Yorkshire has risen to 1,387.
New figures published by the Home Office show there were 152 sex offenders in the City and Holbeck areas of Leeds, which includes the city centre, in 2006/07.
This was up by nine per cent from the 139 who were registered in that area in 2005/06.
Kirklees has the highest number of registered sex offenders in the county.
The number increased from 272 in 2005/06 to 277 in 2006/07, according to official Government figures.
