SAN JOSE, Calif. _ As a young heroin addict, Loren Morrison was never able to officially join a gang, unlike most of the guys he ``ran'' with.
``I wasn't able to give my loyalty and commitment to a gang,'' Morrison said. ``I was more committed to drugs.''
He said he lived from one heroin high to another until nine years ago, when he went to a seminar sponsored by the San Jose congregation of Victory Outreach, an international group of Christian ministries with churches throughout California.
There, he listened to an ex-gang member talk about how Jesus changed his life and gave him the strength to start over. Morrison said he decided to do the same.
