A NOTORIOUS city centre pub, blighted for years by criminals and drug dealers is being turned around - by a former heroin addict.
Carl Peat knows the perils of drugs better than most, having been on smack for 24 years, but it is not the behaviour he condones today.
Since taking over The Hen and Chickens, off Castle Street, with partner Tracey Cohen, a Sheffield College lecturer and trained counsellor, the couple have barred 30 people, installed CCTV cameras and have a bouncer on the door permanently.
They want to attract back people who may have been put off by its old image of shifty types crowding in the doorway, smoking drugs.
