Through Q3 2007 it looked like ice cream's struggles were continuing. Quarterly sales for the broadest categories of ice cream and of novelties took a hit in the summer and early fall, according to core-channel numbers from Information Resources Inc., and 52-week numbers by both dollar sales and unit sales measures were down for ice cream. Novelties saw a slight upward movement in dollar sales.

Meanwhile, frozen yogurt's turnaround continues, although there was a slight downturn in unit sales in the most recent quarter.
