Australia has entered a critical period in the quest to tackle climate change.
We are post-IPCC reports, post-election and post-Bali.
Last year three landmark reports from the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) left the world in no doubt about the science, the seriousness and the urgency. Climate change was a defining issue in November's Federal Election where Australians gave Kevin Rudd's government a clear mandate to take decisive action. At the UN climate conference in Bali in December Australia joined the global effort by ratifying the Kyoto Protocol.
