IN JANUARY I TRAVELLED TO ISRAEL with Ben Fargher from the National Farmers Federation, Jewel Topsfeld from The Age, Tony McLeod from the Australian Government, and Ray Ison from the University of Melbourne. The tour was hosted by the Jewish National Fund. Our purpose was to talk to share ideas on sustainable water management.

Speaking to our Israeli counterparts, it soon became clear why Israel is so interested in water management--it has run out of water, but its demand is continuing to grow.
