UK telecomms regulator Ofcom confirmed on Friday (2 May) that mobile operator O2 has met its obligation to roll out its 3G services to at least 80% of the UK population.

The announcement follows Ofcom's notice to O2 in February 2008 that it would shorten its licence by four months if it did not comply with its rollout obligation by 30 June 2008.
