Competition in wire-line cable television is coming to Maryland Heights. The Maryland Heights Board of Aldermen has unanimously approved giving Cable America, a Phoenix-based firm, a franchise to lay wire underground and on poles throughout the city to compete with Continental Cablevision's already existing franchise.
This means that in six months to a year, the first customers in the West County city could be turning off one cable company and having a second one installed, said Jerry Blount, regional manager for Cable America.
