We were pleased to see an article about alternatives to the conventional lawn ("Lazy lawn care," April 7), with the recognition that lawns traditionally need a lot of water, fertilizer and mowing.
However, we disagree with the premise that choosing not to have a conventional lawn is settling for "something less than perfection."
The principle behind an "eco-lawn" isn't laziness. Eco-lawns represent responsible lawn care and reflect a concern for native biodiversity and ecological health.
"Perfect" and "fabulous" are loaded words; they buy into that marketing strategy the article mentions for the ...
