Portland State assistant Frank Geske, who coached Tigard High School to a state championship in 2003, has been hired by Marist as its new football coach, Spartan athletic director Sharee Waldron confirmed Friday.
Geske, 53, replaces Rory Rosenbach, who coached the Spartans for three seasons and won state titles in 2005 and 2007. Rosenbach resigned in January to take a head coaching job in Snohomish, Wash.
In Geske, Marist gets a coach who spent 26 seasons at the high school level in the Portland area before being hired by Portland State in 2005 to coach running backs.
