Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg is best known in concert halls today for his Piano Concerto in A Minor, which is one of those pieces of music you probably already know - whether you know you know it or not.
It's been used, among other places, in the television series "Twin Peaks" and in a Nike commercial.
After that comes "In the Hall of the Mountain King," which is equally embedded in the public's unconscious. It was whistled by Peter Lorre in the 1931 movie "M."
The rock band The Who used it on an album in the 1960s. It has been in television commercials and cartoons.
