OAKLAND, Calif., May 7 (AScribe Newswire) -- Carter Roberts, a longtime champion of Chabot Space & Science Center, died April 24 after a prolonged illness. Roberts served on Chabot's governing Joint Powers Agency Board, a board he helped create in the 1980s in his efforts to help build the current site of Chabot Space & Science Center. Carter Roberts was 61 years old.
A lifelong Berkeley resident, Roberts joined the East Bay Astronomical Society in 1973 and was active in the group's telescope maker's workshop, helping countless enthusiasts to build their own telescopes, and serving as the group's president for almost 20 years. He ...
