Open Hand Chicago, a non-profit group that provides meals to people living with HIV and AIDS, is launching a business partner program later this month to set itself apart from the fund-raising crowd.
By seeking long-term relationships with Chicago-area businesses, Open Hand is tapping into the hottest trend in philanthropy: cause marketing. The idea is to inspire consumers to patronize companies associated with worthy causes.
Businesses joining Open Hand's program will be promoted in the organization's annual business directory, profiled in newsletters, listed in window displays at the group's locations and touted in public relations campaigns.
