Q You recently wrote about the pros and cons of dropping Medicare Part B if you have VA health benefits. If you have VA benefits and drop Part B, then decide to re-enroll in Part B, will you have to pay a penalty?
A Yes, according to Paul Precht, a spokesman for the Medicare Rights Center, a national consumer organization. The monthly standard premium for Medicare Part B -- which pays for doctors and other outpatient services -- is $96.40.
