To the Editor:
It has long been my heart's desire to create resources for entrepreneurs in Cayuga County, especially women.
When my grandmother, Theresa Mary Pelosi Skoda, passed away, my aunt sent each grandchild $1,000. I thought about how this small sum could honor Grandma and Grandpa Skoda. I recalled stories they told about gatherings of their Italian and Slovak communities to pool funds and support another family's business plan. A restaurant and a funeral home were established this way. There were no expectations of any return.
