LOYALISTS are believed to have removed a number of Republican flags erected Magherafelt town centre, the MAIL has learned.
A row erupted at the weekend over the removal of seven flags erected to commemorate the Easter Rising by the new Republican grouping eirigi.
It's the second time in a week that the flags, including an Irish tricolour and a starry plough, were taken down.
The group's chairperson in the area, Dominic McGlinchey, said the flags were stolen by "unidentified bigots" and accused police of harassing party activists engaged in replacing flags at the Diamond.
