CHICAGO - Less than eight months after coming out of Chapter 11, Regina took to the floor at the International Housewares Show with a product line revamped from top to bottom.
Once the number-four supplier of vacuums in the $3 billion U.S. vacuum cleaner business and the second leading supplier of extractors, the company saw its share dwindle to the low single digits in 1995, according to industry estimates. After filing Chapter 11 and temporarily discontinuing shipments, Regina was purchased by Philips Electronics N.V., a $7 billion international conglomerate, in the second quarter of 1995.
