Civitas (1) has chosen these words, spoken by Pope John Paul II at World Youth Day in Toronto, as the guiding inspiration of your association. These words are obviously grand--he speaks of building a new civilization--but what really does he mean? Is this new civilization of love perhaps just a pious dream, an unrealizable ideal or a rhetorical flourish intended to make us feel good? Obviously not!
