SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina _ While the Bosnian peace agreement is being signed Thursday in Paris, the first 22 U.S. Marines on Bosnian soil will be practicing assault drills in knee-deep snow and learning how to dismantle the Russian-made assault rifles that are the local weapon of choice.
Several marines said they found Sarajevo a cold and depressing city, one clearly worn out by war.
``It feels different here than it looks on television,'' said Lance Cpl. Cordell Powell, a 19-year-old soldier from Baltimore. ``It's emotionally colder. Some buildings are completely run over, while others aren't touched. It's weird.''
