For its Mozart production opening next weekend, Opera San Jose is using multi-racial, multi-cultural casting to a degree not seen before by its audience.
Among the 18 members of the two alternating casts for ``Le nozze di Figaro,'' four are minority artists: soprano Sujung Kim from Korea (Susanna), baritone Juan Sanchez-Lozano from Mexico City (Bartolo), Hispanic soprano Aimee Puentes (Barbarina) and African-American mezzo-soprano Jeanette Blakeney. Blakeney is also the first minority artist-in-residence in the company's 12-season history.
