Isaac Ribeiro Ferreira Leite was born in 1911 in Monte Santo de Minas, the son of Custodio Ribeiro Ferreira Leite and Osilia Soares Leite, both of traditional coffee growing families. He was educated at the Colegio Arquidiocesano and at Sao Paulo University with a degree in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. He worked as an engineer for many years but he has dedicated much of his life to the coffee sector.
