HRW asks ASEAN members to persuade Myanmar to allow aid

New York, May 10 (PTI) -- An international human rights watchdog has urged India, China, Thailand and other ASEAN members to prod Myanmar's military government to lift restriction on international assistance so that aid could reach the survivors of Cyclone Nargis.

"By blocking international relief efforts, the Burmese government is showing utter contempt for millions of its own people," said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch.
