The Advertising Standards Authority has thrown out a claim against Kellogg's over a TV ad campaign for its Coco Pops cereal brand.

Viewers complained that the ad, which shows children returning home to enjoy a bowl of Coco Pops as an after-school snack, encouraged 'harmful dietary practice' as it encouraged parents to feed children a product that was high in sugar as a snack and implied that it was appropriate to eat two bowls of Coco Pops a day.

In response, Kellogg's pointed out that the ad showed the children eating a 'sensibly poured portion' of Coco Pops with their mother's permission, while she was present.
