The typical laboratory information system (LIS) reaches a variety of locations in the clinical lab. According to the results of MLO's latest survey, 63% of LISs reach the chemistry and hematology sections, 55% are connected to microbiology, 37% reach transfusion services, and 34% interface with anatomical pathology, cytology, histology, and nursing.
Figure I shows a comprehensive list of sections, departments, and other sites currently connected to respondents' LISs.
