I almost called this short article Marginal Editing because the magazine 'Margin' could be described as marginalia: it deals with nineteenth century life and literature and our early literature has been pushed to the very margin of our consciousness. Even the 'canon' of Australian Literature contains only a few 'classics' which are seldom mentioned and the works themselves are often out of print. I was surprised recently at the complete ignorance of most Australians of even the name of the author Rolf Boldrewood.
