There was nothing wrong with what the Black Keys were a year ago: a garage - or basement - blues-rock duo, depending on which Akron, Ohio, house the Keys chose to record in.
But the pedigrees of guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney didn't want them to remain underground. On their fifth album, "Attack & Release," the duo's bloodlines began to take charge.
It'd be easy to attribute the Keys' recent evolution to producer Danger Mouse - also known as Brian Burton, aka one half of Gnarls Barkley. His production on "Attack & Release" brought the Keys' sound out of the basement and into a world of Moog ...
