Columbus, Ind.--Acting on behalf of the Consumer Products Safety Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice has initiated two lawsuits against Cosco Inc., a manufacturer of furniture headquartered here.
In the litigation, the Consumer Products Safety Commission alleges non-reporting of potential safety problems of the Cosco toddler bed, model 10T22, and toddler bed side rail, model 10T71. The agency is seeking the maximum fine of $1.25 million for each model.
According to Martin Schwartz, president and chairman of Dorel Industries Inc., the Canadian parent of Cosco, "The company will aggressively defend itself against these actions." He added that the company ...
