Article: House passes FY '96 DoD authorization bill; veto still looms.(FY '96 Defense Authorization Bill)

The House on Friday passed 267 to 149 the conference agreement on the FY '96 Defense Authorization Bill, but a presidential veto is looming that likely would send the bill reeling back to Congress for adjustments.

Congressional aides on Friday said they still expect the president to veto the bill, which provides DoD with $264.7 billion in budget authority and $262.1 billion in outlays.

The Senate had started debate on the conference agreement at our press time but had not yet voted on final passage.
