A study suggests that arsenic could be a useful radiotracer for positron emission tomography examinations. Researchers said arsenic could allow physicians to detect hard-tofind tumors and more closely monitor treatment response.
Several radiotracers currently are used in imaging, but many of the isotopes decay before they reach the target in the body. Arsenic has promise as a radiotracer because of the slow rate of decay of arsenic isotopes and their stable chemistry.
