In 1969, after graduation from high school in New York City, Sal Martino attended Queens College, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in political science with a pre-law concentration. His plan was to start law school but finances became an issue, so he took a temporary job as a darkroom technician at Queens General Hospital to save money for law school tuition. That decision changed the course of his career and his life.
